Care Bear is an all-time childhood memory that will live in everyone’s heart. This time we are given a very special mission by Care Bear Singapore to bring to life their limited edition merchandise to celebrate their 40th anniversary with their fans. Their merch consists of a reversible 4-in-1 tote bag with gorgeous designs printed on each side, in and out. Moreover, it includes a 2-sized pouch, a large and a small one!
When first approached by Care Bear Singapore’s marketing team, we consulted them on what their needs and requirements for this series of limited edition products. They want to have their products printed on with their iconic care bear designs. As the brand uses lots of lively colours to portray the carebear’s different emotions and feelings. Hence they place lots of emphasis on having a vibrant colour finish.
After understanding that, using our extensive product knowledge. We provided product samples that we did for our previous clients to let them have a feel and touch of what the finished product could be. Furthermore, we suggested fabrics and printing methods that give the product a fine priceless look. Not only for the looks, but we also know that it’s for the fans. Hence having a long-lasting fabric was also our utmost priority in making this merchandise.
Custom Reversible Tote Bag
First tackling the reversible tote bag, we recommend poly canvas fabric which is presentable, smooth, pleasant on the eye and able to last for a long time. For the vibrant colours, we suggested using dye sublimation printing to make the colour pop off!
Full Surface Zip Pouch
Moving on to the pouches, we used the same technique to produce the pouches. To ensure the same quality and finishing. Additionally, we got to design the zipper to the client’s preference. After all the designs are finalised we did some test prints for them to choose from as well as to make the tweaks and changes to the products before mass printing.
When the test print of the tote bag arrived, upon looking at it we found that the colour doesn’t stand out as much as we wanted it to look. Hence, we work with our clients and supplier to let them know of this situation. We suggested a different base colour for the design to make the colours pop out even more. After all the discussion and more test printing, we finally can proceed with the mass production of the merchandise.
Overall, this was a mission accomplished for us. It was a huge milestone for TREA to be able to have this opportunity to design merchandise to be sold to customers and fans. And it was a good learning experience when suggesting colours to customers!
